By no means new, I just finished cutting it!

This video is from November 2008. It stars 3 beautiful steam trains on the Central Plateau. They were brought here to celebrate 100 years of the Auckland to Wellington main
trunk railway line. The meeting point between the North and South lines was just south of the Makatote Viaduct. The viaduct is seen at the end of the video. This train was especially organised for the trip and carried various VIP's, government types and school-kids etc. While not everyone's cup of tea, put a train spotter in front of this and they will be all wonky and googly eyed. We did a great display of train bits in one of the Raetihi shops at the same time. Organised by Jeremy Nash and friends, it brought a good bit of life to the town and was enjoyed by loads of visitors.
Cheers. Filmed by me (mike)

Good luck for the rest of your walk down NZ !!

Cheers for staying Eyal.

He is doing a walk from Cape Reinga to Bluff (and maybe further). Avoiding roads whenever possible, this tough Israeli is using hiking routes (sometimes re-making them) through our stunning national parks, farms and bush.
